WI/AHC: Britain pursues European dominance during 19th century

As is well known, during its height the British Empire almost always chose to indirectly influence the political situation in Europe by siding with one or the other, depending who was stronger; they also tried to stabilise the status quo as much as possible.

What would happen, or alternately, how would circumstances arises where Britain, like Arabia, Turkey, the Spanish, France, Germany or Russia, chooses to pursue a policy of dominance in Europe? Doesn't need to succeed, but since it's the British, who knows...

POD: princess Victoria dies in early 1837, just before her uncle, William IV. This means William's sister Augusta Sophia becomes queen of GB, while her brother Ernest Augustus still becomes king of Hanover due to Salic law and all that.

Then, Augusta Sophia dies childless in 1840, and Ernest Augustus becomes king of GB in addition to being king of Hanover. Hey, look at that: personal union restored! Having spent time on the continent, he has quickly become attached to Hanover (as he did IOTL), and endeavours to maintain Hanover as an integral part of Britain's empire.

Now, all you have to do is wait for Germany to start trying to unify. They'll want Hanover, and Britain won't let them have it. There will be war. Britain will fight a European land war from Hanover. They'll be really involved in Continental politics, and they will attempt to project real military power.
