WI - Age of Discovery / Colonialism in a no-Islam ATL

How would the age of discovery and colonialism have unfolded in an ATL without Islam given the Europeans were partly driven to bypass Muslim dominated territories as well as sought to probe whether it was possible to reach the Indies (the source of the Spice trade) by sea?

That's kind of a tricky question.
Most of it would be butterflied : for instance, Portuguese went on naval expeditions, not for India at first, but for Western African gold and trade.

Eventually, it comes down to Western African involvement without Arabo-Islamic connections : I'd be tempted to say that Great Lakes region may play a role there, critically with some tools of trade (as camels) being less important ITTL for Saharian roads.
OTOH, I don't expect Western Africa to be cut, but I think it would still take more time; way before, though, IOTL Age of Discovery.

Maybe (but that's wild tought) trade roads from West Africa to Great Lakes or Nubia appearing as well, making the region connection coming from both North Africa (I'd tend to think IOTL Tunisia would probably play a greater role ITTL) and East Africa?

I don't think we can safely said that an Age of Discovery equivalent will happen, or won't happen, as the PoD involves much butterflies. But I don't think that the same cultural/ideological/political concerns that caused and accompanied it IOTL would be present.
