Admiral d’Argenlieu was one of the major players of the Free French Forces.
After the war, d’Argenlieu was sent to French Indochina as part of the French Far East Expeditionary Corps to restore the French colonial administration. He was the one who ordered the shelling of Haiphong, starting the First Indochina War which led to the Vietnam War.

However, on September 23, 1940, he travelled to Dakar in order to convince Vichy-loyal governor of Dakar to join Charles de Gaulle. He was severely wounded when he was fired upon in his small and unarmed craft.

So WI d’Argenlieu was KIA? Who would replace his duties?
