WI a prominent crusader converted

WI a prominent crusader king/leader/ general to either islam or judaism but fought still for the church in rome.

i know this may be seen as stupid but hell, lets just have a go shall we?

excommunication is the most likely.

good point.
i was just interested in seing if there was anyway in doing a timeline of my own where a prominent king converts to judaism and rebuilds israel as his own personal kingdom, allying with either saracen or european

He has to get a good portion of his vassals (and they, theirs) to convert with him or they'll dethrone him.

i guess this post is null and void.
but one last thing..

what if say a high profile muslim warlord converted to either christianity/judaism and fought against the saracens

similar scenario just with a muslim instead of a christian converting

A Crusader converting to Islam or a Muslim lord converting to Christianity is much more probable. Each of those have a substantial enough population base to make a go of it. That kind of stuff did happen from time to time going either way, though only a case in 9th century Al-Andalus is coming to mind at the moment.

I wanted to a alt timeline wherein a wrlord converts to judaism and sides with one of the two factions warring at the time, effectively carving out their own little niche in the holy land.
