A year or so ago, I was wondering how I could have Victoria's third son, Arthur, become king of Britain, but I came up with three PODs that could lead to a more interesting timeline. Could the monarchy survive if:
Albert, Duke of Edinburgh, is shot from behind and killed by the insane Henry James O’Farrell in Sydney on March 21, 1868.
Edward, Prince of Wales, dies from typhoid in November of 1871.
Queen Victoria is shot and killed in her carriage by Arthur O’Connor (whose gun is actually loaded), grandson of an Irish MP, on February 28, 1872.
Even with three deaths so close to each other, I think that the monarchy would endure potential social upheaval. True, Prince Albert Victor would be the next king, but a regency under Prince Arthur would hopefully help him.
What other domestic and foreign results do you foresee?
