WI: A larger Portugese Population in South Africa?

Portugul was the first European power to Colonise what is now South Africa, however, their impact on the ethnic make-up of the region was small compared to the Dutch, English, and Indian settlers. What if modern South Africa had Larger Portugese population, while still maintaining the overall ethnic mix of native Africans, British, Dutch, and Indians?

Considering the rivalry that Netherlands and Portugal had I'm not too sure about the plausibility. However, the Portuguese had a presence in Africa through Angola and Mozambique, so maybe through Mozambique to gain a foothold. Maybe if Angola or Mozambique had something similar to Brazil's Bandeirantes pushing farther south into Africa and getting a foothold. Course, there'd conflict with the Trekboers, but that's almost normal for Dutch/Portuguese interactions as it is.
