WI: A King for Hungary

Following the defeat of Austria-Hungary and the restoration of Hungary as a sovereign and independent state, Hungary was under the rule of a regency under Miklos Horthy. While there were attempts by King Charles IV (Charles I of Austria-Hungary) to reclaim control of Hungary (which failed only because none of the neighboring states wanted him back in any form or fashion.) It not only ended in failure, but also potentially killed any possibility of the restoration of the Hungarian Monarchy (despite Hungary officially remaining a monarchy until Soviet occupation led to the dissolution of the Kingdom and the establishment of a Hungarian Republic, and later the Cold War-era Communist State.

But what if, even if Charles IV is still refused, that Hungary would take an active interest in electing a new monarch to represent Hungary? Who would they choose as a representative to the Hungarian throne?

EDIT: Whoops, meant this for After 1900, can someone move this? ^^;

Perhaps new monarch could be from Italy or Balkans. Northern Europe not be impossible too. But I don't think that this much changes fate of Hungary. It would be difficult stay neutral during WW2.

Technically Hungary was ruled by Archduke Joseph August of Austria right up to the end, and he even tried to make it a independent Kingdom after the split but failed when the Entente refused it. Have the Entenet his leadership of Hungary and stop any further revolutions ( 2 were attempted but ultimatly failed whilst he was still in power) and you have it done.
