WI: A different victor at the Battle of Baekgang

What if Yamato Japan and Baekje had proven victorious against Tang Dynasty China and the Kingdom of Sillia at the Battle of Hakusukinoe (Battle of Baekgang)?

How will the Baekje restoration continue if it is not crushed?

What role will Japan play in Korea after its victory?

Without the fear of invasion will Japan still build a huge network of shore fortifications like it did throughout the rest of the 600's?

Without a southern base of operations in Baekje Tang China will not be able to launch a two-pronged invasion of Goguryeo

possible

Baekje probably become Japan vassal, it still need enormous help from Japan

No, the resources and people instead will be send to Baekje to help its defence.

Goguryeo invasion will be delayed, Tang - Silla will concentrate in Baekje.

> really, no love for East Asian PoDs?

Lot of love for it, but not enough knowledge on it. Wikipedia is still mostly western oriented :)

To tell the truth, I don't think that a victory at Baekgang would would have changed anything, given how the Restoration was always falling apart due to internal betrayals. The only real consequence that such a victory might have is to give Goguryeo enough time to clean up its own internal conflicts (the Yeon brothers fought each other) and go for a turtle defense, eventually wearing Silla down.

We really need King Uija to escape to Yamato for any serious restoration movement to succeed.
