WI:A different mother for Richard II

What if Edward the Black Prince was married to someone else in order to seal the treaty of Bretigny, how would this effect Richard II or his ATL equivalent?

Since Richard was Edward's second son, you probably get an *Edward IV and not son #2.

How he's different than OTL Richard II depends on too many factors to answer without some specifics on who the Black Prince marries and how much nature plays a role as opposed to nurture and circumstances.

Impossible to say. It totally depends whose Edward marries. That alternate Richard II would be different person.

Who says it has to be a princess?

Edward OTL married the countess of Kent - so the list of potentially eligible women is quite long.

Richard II

Joan of Kent and Richard's father were fairly closely related. Perhaps a different mother would have been a more stable Richard.

Who would France insist/request that Edward marry? Also, why would Edward III agree to such a demand?

Actually, a different mother would have resulted in a radically different batch of children for Edward, Prince of Wales and no OTL Richard II at all. Also, Joan was apparently a stabilizing influence in her son's life. ;)
