WI: A Danish-Swedish alliance in the 17th century?

I was thinking the POD would be Gzstavus Adolphus dying earlier in the Ingrian War (1617-1618) or the wars with Poland in 1620s. Depending on the timing, he would be succeeded by his brother Karl Filip, who OTL died at Riga in 1622, or if Gustav dies later, his heir could be his nephew, Karl Gustav von Pfalz-Zweibrucken. I know his sister was still alive but I read somewhere that Gustav had his sister and brother-in-law come to Sweden when the TYW began to bring his possible heir, Karl Gustav, to safety. Even if he does inherit, his mother would probably be among the regents.
The last Dano-Swedish war was the Kalmar War (1611-1613), and another war almost broke out in 1624 but was stopped by Oxenstierna.
With gustavus dead, wars with poles might end sooner and maybe the Swedes be willing to join denmark in TYW?

Thoughts? Ideas?

Gustavus Adolphus won't be able to introduce his military revolutions which revolutionized warfare. Catholics might also retake a good chunk of Germany in the Thirty Yeats War without his leadership.

I like the idea of Danish-Swedish alliance. Maybe Sweden, during the Thirty Years War, doesn't launch a major invasion of Germany and instead helps the Danes at Dessau.

Is such a thing plausible? With Gustav dying in, say 1625, peace would quickly be concluded with Polan and Sweden might even keep Livonia. Then with Karl X as a king with regents ruling in his name would inherit. It's the Riksdag which would have to decide on joining the war but to me it seems quite possible, as they actually were allies for a short period. Without Gustav on the throne the alliance might lasts for a longer while, and Swedes won't just let Danes have all the fun right? I know without Gustav's reforms they might be weaker, but they still had some quite capable commanders like Torstensson, Baner and the crew
And their greater numbers would partially make up for what they lack in capability as both Danish and Swedish armies could fight together, without having to fight anyone else (as OTL Swedes going back to fight in Jylland and then back again to Germany). And the Protestant League still had some power in the 1620s.
What I really want to do is show how powerful the Scandinavian countries could've been without fighting at least a dozen wars between each other and instead allying and using their combined qualities to prosper. It doesn't have to be a united Scandinavia (though that is possible as well:D)

It might be easier just have the Danes crush the Swedes at the Battle of Brunkeberg and have the Kalmar Union stay intact. I'm not sure if an equal alliance between Denmark and Sweden would work they have many areas of competing interest. So prehaps it would be better if Denmark dominated Sweden like they did Norway in this era.

It really is stupid for Denmark and Sweden to be fighting, they are so similar. They have much more to worry about from Prussia and Russia. It would be cool if the Danish and Swedes fought together against Prussia at Fehrbellin and if Denmark supported Carolus Rex in the Great Northern War against Russia.

i don't think another sort of Kalmar Union would last a decent time. Pretty soon some Danish King would try to diminish Sweden's part in the union and neglect their nobility and then a another civil war would erupt. Is there ever a possible way for them to unite decently, all being equal or at least being friends like they are now?

For the equal alliance maybe Denmark and France improve relations, then Sweden and Denmark both fight together on France's behalf. If we are going for the unequal alliance, then a union of Sweden and Norway that makes them more powerful then the Danes may work. Denmark is then dominated by Sweden/Norway and forced into alliance.

It could also be cool to see Sweden and Denmark colonizing North American together. New Sweden linked with Danish Greenland or something like that.

Not sure if New Sweden could survive there next to all those Dutch, French and English hungry emigrants but maybe sailing into the Hudson's Bay before others colonized it and then slowly making their way south and West to Minnesota and Manitoba. Such a colony could include a large part of Canada and at least some northern parts of OTL USA and could be settled with a couple million Scandinavians that emigrated in 1800s. Only problem is uniting them or making them BFFs which is necessary. If they used the potential they had on some constructive things instead of fighting on the sides of opposing superpowers because they wanted them to, Scandinavia could've been a world power today in the rank of Italy or so...definitely in the top 10.
