The Spanish Government would certainly be looking for blood , a corps or two instead of a division of volunteers might be sent east.
The little the communist did was pretty useless.
They killed Franco, yes... But as quick he dies, another is chosen to take the seat. The communist is probably arrested and executed using the "Garrote Vil". In days where Spain is practically ruined, an even harder border blockade won't allow to people to go into Spain and would complicated leave Spain for years.
This is why the Dystopian novels are horrible: Just because the leader is dead, that doesn't mean the snake is dead.
In fact, in that case, the communist made the future of Spain worse. Franco chose Juan Carlos de Borbon as his successor. And thanks for it, he dismembered the dictatorship, started to make democracy and finally we had constitution in 1978, allowing us to elections and legal rights. Without Franco, and instead another person controlling the country, he can choose another as successor, making that probably we won't have a constitution and democracy till even years later.
