Wi 7th crusade Successful

In otl many things went wrong for crusaders but wi Louis slays Baibars on the battlefield. What are the ramifications of no baibars. Plus how much land can crusaders capture

The crusader states in Holy Land would have lasted much longer.

The big question is was there someone who could defeat the Mongols in the area to replace Baibars. If so then if they were Muslim I guess they replace him in history (expansion of Mamluk empire etc.)

More interesting would be if the person was Christian. Having defeated the Mongols he would be in great demand in Europe. If it was a member of one of the Knighly Orders then it would have changed their histories hugely.

Alright so after Baibars dies maybe the headmaster of the knights of st John leads his forces to a successful victory against Mongol forces. This victory ends with the deaths of Hulegu and Guyuk and stops the mongol invasions. Now how different would the world be?

My feeling is that the Knights of St John take a quantum leap in power and influence.

They would keep their base in Jerusalem and would have a massive influx of numbers and riches. I can see them gaining both Rhodes and Malta within 10 years to have seperate garrisons in.

With a strong unified, non polical leader the Europeans may have rallied behind an Army of the Knights of St John. These could then defeat the Mongols on the mainland, freeing Poland and Luthuainia from trouble.

Extending this out, it gives a strong army and navy in the southern Med, also the Muslims have been given a bloody nose so may not try to extend into Europe via Constantinople.
