WI: 1st Duke of Richmond crowned King of Ireland

So what if Henry the Eighth had crowned his illegitimate son Henry Fitzroy as King of Ireland? With the new King of Ireland, there would be no union between the thrones of Dublin and London. How would Fitzroy rule most likely?

Maybe Henry of Ireland (formerly FitzRoy) uses his kingdom as a powerbase to try to enable himself to gain the English crown.

Why would Henry do this? The PoD has to be before Richmond's OTL death, and right the way up to that point Henry was saving Richmond up as a back up male heir in case he couldn't have one with Catherine of Aragon. Richmond dying was a contributing factor the the Great Matter because suddenly the only recognised heir of his body was Mary.

On top of this, the title of King of Ireland doesn't even exist yet, it was still the Lordship of Ireland (signifying subordinance to England), and as making Richmond a King would split Ireland from his realm Henry would not even consider the notion of creating a new King who was his equal.

And finally to be added to this: Up until 1542 (when the Kingdom of Ireland was created) the English basically controlled Dublin and the Pale only. It would be a poor title and an insignificant power base.

I understand that. Henry planned on making Fitzroy the King of Ireland. But his advisors advised him against it. The WI is if he went ahead with it.
