WI 1940 : Britain and France in reverse

Same campaign of France but : What if Britain make some sort of peace or armistice with Hitler, while France doesn't and "fight on beaches, landing grounds, in fields, in streets and on the hills." (in North Africa) ?

Basically, in the two nations, the resolve to continue the war was merely made a few people.
Winston Churchill, no need to explain.
Paul Reynaud, the French "Prime Minister" who wanted to continue the war in North Africa but gave up and yield his place to:
Phillipe Pétain, who make the armistice.

So what if we get rid of Churchill, or Pétain, or give some gutts to Reynaud.
Let's just say for whatever cause Churchill lose his chair (clever Nazi at Dunkerke or a better strategy for the Lutwaffe for example), then Degaulle return to France and give Reyanud a little share of courage, and France governement go to Algier.

So, what happen ?

How would the French hold out? the British have the natural defence of the channel. An intresting idea would be the maginot line being extended all the way to the border giving the french what they see as a 'impregnable defence' whilst Hitler supports a Black shirt movement in Britian which seizes power via coup. That whole scenario seems a bit implausiable but is all I can think of

Why would Britain surrender anyways? Only possibility I can see is the BEF being utterly destroyed... even then, that's hard to see a surrender.

Perhaps a repeat of the Schifflen Plan, but more sucessful?

Germany ignores Holland, overruns Belgium, utterly smashes the BEF *which lets say is much larger, something like 80% of the British Army which is screening a huge portion of the French Flank bordering onto the Channel* combined with a limited offensive up the Saar by the French forces mean that the Germans have utterly crushed the British forces, while the French are forced to retreat but mostly intact. The Germans enter Paris while the French Forces reel all the way down from the eastern end along the borders of Wallonia, Luxembourg, and Germany, through the Rhone,. to Marseilles.

The French then evacuate to North Africa, and vow to return.

This massive evacuation is due to the fact that despite being almost completely ouflanked with 1 avenue of escape the French forces are not as mauled in this version of events.

Remove Winston Churchill and maybe still have Chamberlain on board and have Brittan ask for an armistice with no loss of land on either side while France fights with its large army from North Africa supported with British supplies and you have an interesting Scenario.

In addition with the entire French Army wheeling down the Rhone you may not have Mussolini Declare war, especially after when you have most of the French Army in Algeria and Tunisia.

This could really change the dynamic of the war without Mussolini dragging Hitler into the Balkans *even if Mussolini invades Greece, the British probably would not intervene, meaning Hitler will not either, and if the British do then Mussolini is screwed over even faster in North Africa*

Someone should do a time line on this.

The BEF and France did enter Belgium and try to defend it. They failed obviously.

That is the main reason France was rolled. If they had defended farther back and conceded portions of Belgium there war plan would have been more successful and the Blitzkrieg virtually nullified.
