Why didn't NYC get Bubonic Plague?

Most of the plague victims were from Asia according to the link you gave us, which means it would most likely come in from the West Coast.

True but that wouldn't stop ships from carrying it though. Also why not even earlier or as a matter of fact later?
 
Also, the American Southwest, is home to rodents which can carry plague, and allow transmission. To the extent that it is currently endemic in the area.

New York, not so much. I believe that rats sicken and die from plague, just like we do, so they CAN be a vector, but not a very efficient one.

so time is a factor then? So they live long enough to bring it to the West but not the East ok, thanks
 
Incubation Period

I'm sure it has to do with the incubation period of the disease and the time over which it runs it course. By the time a ship goes directly from East Asia to New York the individual has either died or is over the disease. Same goes for any possible rodent carriers. That's why it can make it to ports closer to East Asia first and slowly spreads from there.
