Apologies if this has been hashed out before. I tried looking through Search but didn't get very far. Inspired by
this thread in the pre-1900 section ("Will there ever be a Good Civil War TL?"), I thought of asking this question.
Based on what I've seen here Axis victory, along with CSA victory, timelines seem to be the most popular (or at least the most done) timelines in AH.com. Why is that? Is it like with CSA victory TLs, that there are basically three alternatives, 1) Axis win, 2) Allies win earlier and 3) Allies win later, of which 1) is the most interesting for people because 2) and 3) would be "more of the same"?
Reading BlairWitch's "Rommel's Barbarossa 1942" TL made me think about this. And it's not just an AH.com thing either, rather it seems to reflect a general trend, when one thinks of books like
Fatherland and
Man in the High Castle. The "succesful Operation Valkyrie" TLs partially fall into this as well, IMHO, since many of them involve Germany making a deal with the western Allies and therefore preserving at least some of their power.
I don't mean to insult anyone here, I'm just curious.
