If George H.W. Bush had decided on dropping Dan Quayle from the Republican National ticket of 1992, who would make the best replacement? Going back to the Bush Campaign's Vice Presidential vetting process in 1988, according to Jack Nelson and Richard Meyer's article, Bush considered as alternates for Quayle, Kansas Senator Bob Dole, New York Congressman Jack Kemp, and former Secretary of Transportation Elizabeth Dole.
