Anne, Queen of Great Britain - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_of_Great_Britain

(I did not give Oliver Cromwell or his son Richard as options for the simple fact that they were republicans and Cromwells, so they are not Monarchs and not of the House of Stewart.)

You mean who's the best of the worst of the Stuart Monarchs? :p

Well they're all dead so that's a good start...

Otherwise I'll vote for Mary as one can easily argue she was actually from the one off House of Orange

I'd say Charles II

Sure as a person he wasn't all that great but he was actually a competent ruler who maintained his control of the Kingdom quite well compared to the other Stewart rulers.

A pretty piss-poor dynasty all round really, the Stuarts, even when they were only ruling Scotland. I'd probably go for Charles II, because he navigated through a series of pretty nasty events with skill and panache, and kept the ship of state afloat throughout. He wasn't perfect, but compared to the rest, y'know.

James I, probably the only other likely candidate, has never struck me as doing anything of particular significance. People can correct me if I'm wrong.

Not a good dynasty on the whole, but they had their good points.

James I: His views on smoking

Charles II: His handling of the Great Fire of London and the cultural rebirth

Mary II: Helping preside over the constitutional settlement (although I'm not sure how big a role she had)

Anne: Putting up with George of Denmark ;)

Since I'm not counting William, I'd say Charles II. For all that he was Louis XIV's bitch, he did a damn sight better than most of the others (James I, Mary II, and Anne were all OK, but not particularly notable).

The two women were pretty good. The glorious revolution and the forming of the UK-yey!

Well Cromwell had a greater impact than the lot of them, not that says much, they were all kind of.. insignificant.

I guess Charles II.
Although he is hardly up there as great men go.
