Who shall Maximilian marry?

Archduke Maximilian of Austria (Maximilian I of Mexico) married Princess Charlotte of Belgium in 1857.
Suppose Maximilian does not marry Charlotte. Who shall Maximilian marry?

Does Napoleon III have any female relatives he could marry?

A Portuguese princess could link Brazil and Mexico.

Spanish princess is out of the question after all Mexico have just denounced Spain in their revolution.

Charlotte and her father Leopold of Belgium were the main people who encouraged Maximilian to get involved in the Mexican adventure, and Leopold in particular pulled a lot of strings to get Maximilian selected as Emperor. So without Charlotte the likelihood is that Maximilian just ends up as a semi-idle semi-liberal Archduke living in Viennese luxury. One possible effect is that the A-H Navy improves due to Maximilian's tenacity in building it up, but as far as marriages go, I have no particular ideas.

If Max doesn't marry Charlotte and doesn't meet a tragic end in Mexico, and marries and has a son with some other princess instead then Max and his line would be their heirs of Franz Josef after Mayerling.

An original bride proposed for him was Amelia of Bragança. England-France wouldn't countenance a match with Spain since the ghost of Karl V was very present. No French princesses were offered when he visited Paris on his mother's orders since she was afraid of him contracting a morganatic marriage if he stayed in Vienna. And basically any German Catholic was his cousin through his mother, and with 1848 sweeping through Italy, Austria didn't view THAT as a viable option.

Thus, Charlotte or a high-enough ranked Protestant willing/able to convert.

How about:
Countess Wilhelmine Kinsky von Wchinitz und Tettau (1838–1886), elder daughter of Count Joseph Kinsky von Wchinitz und Tettau, and his wife, Countess Maria Czernin von und zu Chudenitz.

IOTL she is the mother of Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg, and in turn mother-in-law, to Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, heir presumptive to the Austro-Hungarian throne.

So she is of somewhat noble birth and would give Max a heir and spare.

He could marry his sister in law Marie thereby sparing her the Neapolitan experience. They live quietly as patrons of arts. They have no children.

No that not eligikle under habsburg house law (basically you have to marry into a "ruling or once have ruled" house).

I like the idea of Maximilian marrying Amelia.
Their children are:
Archduchess Maria Josepha
Archduke Maximilian
Archduke Joseph
Archduchess Maria Isabella
