Who runs in 96 if Bush Sr. Wins in 92.

OTL's GOP field plus Carroll Campbell and, if he beats Feingold, Bob Kasten. For the Dems, Gore is the likely frontrunner, maybe Bayh and a few others.

Dole would get the Republican nod. Gore might be able to get the Democratic nomination that year, but that's by no means certain.

I think Bob Kerrey of Nebraska would give it another try. Also Bill Clinton wanted to be President it was almost part of his DNA. He might try to run again. Not impossible. Depends on how close the 92 election is. So I see Gore , Kerrey, Clinton, maybe John Keery of Massachusetts. Don't count out any of them. For the GOP. Dan Quayle the two time VEEP is lot tougher to beat than you think. He would own a lot of chits. It would be Dole vs Quayle race. The right wing would like Quayle. You say no one that dumb could get it. Have you ever heard of George W. Bush? Finals toss up, I say Clinton beats Quayle.

Mario Cuomo probably held out for this IOTL.

He'd be 64, but it's possible he'd still run.

Since Bush Sr. wins, there is no Republican revolution in 1994, so Cuomo is probably still Governor, Ann Richards might have survived as well. That means neither Bush could become Governor until 1998, and would probably be too green to run for President in 2000. So does McCain pretty much get the nomination in 2000 if the Democrat wins 1996?

Anyways, Gore will most likely run, probably Gephardt and Kerrey as well. Maybe Jerry Brown gives it another shot, and Bill Bradley is possible. Perhaps Wellstone also runs.

Much like this upcoming election, there is no strong republican candidate. Bob Dole probably wins the nomination. Bill Clinton probably runs again. Although it would be Ross Perot who would take the election. He would go on to win the re-election by a landslide against Al Gore, and John McCain. Then George W. Bush would defeat John Kerry, and Jesse Ventura in 2004. In 2008, George Bush wins the re-election against Al Gore, and Jesse Ventura. Finally, in 2012, reform party candidate Ron Paul defeats Mitt Romney, and Barrack Obama.

For the republicans, Jack Kemp seems painfully obvious, and Pete Wilson would be possible, though only as a "reach" candidate in the likely event others implode. Ditto for Lamar Alexander.
As for the Democrats, I suspect Gore would receive the nomination, but only after a fairly difficult primary campaign where he was challenged from left and right.

George W Bush got an MBA from Yale, and flew supersonic jets and spoke a 2nd language fluently...

None of those indicate intelligence, especially considering his family's position.

his father's legacy might have gotten him through the Yale admittance process; but it didn't compel his graduation nor advanced degree which he received later from Harvard... he scored high enough on his natural guard aptitude tests to be sent to flight school from which he graduated, and was entrusted with multi million dollar aircraft; the air force is picky about pilots and doesn't usually choose blithering idiots for the purpose; and learning a second language is a mark of intelligence; there are plenty of people who lack the capacity to do so

it's a mistake to look at a mixed ability to conduct public speeches and a host of SNL and other parodies as some sort of basis of real life

Being able to rattle off a few stock phrases in Spanish is not speaking it "fluently". Jeb can speak it relatively fluently, but I've never heard anyone claim before that Dubya can.

He has given entire speeches in Spanish; the worst level of criticism of his Spanish I have ever heard is that he americanizes many words (a common habit for American students that I find myself guilty of when breaking out my rusty college French; or the spattering of Polish Mrs. BW has taught me)

When i was talking about W not being to bright i was talking about his ability to be a good leader. i think history has answered that question. So i still think a two time VP winner (Quayle) would be the leader for the nomination for the GOP in 96. Has an aside i have a heart doctor who went to Yale with George W Bush. He said W was not to bright. That John Kerry was very bright. But that W was a nice guy who never had any real enemies.

Which does not imply you can speak the language fluently. I could give a prepared speech in Spanish. Don't mean I can speak it fluently. Here's wiki's take on it:

George W. Bush speaks some amount of Spanish, and has delivered speeches in the language.[49] His speeches in Spanish are imperfect, with English dispersed throughout.[50] Some opponents, like Molly Ivins, have pointedly questioned the extent to which Bush could speak the language, noting that he kept to similar phrasing in numerous appearances and displayed a "Spanish II" level of mastery in a Spanish-language press conference.[51]
