who had the most titles?

Historically many rulers have had multiple titles. For example a king of one country might also be a duke of another. Who historically had the most titles?

According to Guinness World Records, the most titled aristocrat in the world was María del Rosario Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart y de Silva, 18th Duchess of Alba de Tormes and a Grandee of Spain (28 March 1926 – 20 November 2014), known simply as Cayetana, Duchess of Alba. She had 57 titles in total, more than Queen Elizabeth II.
She was 14 times a Spanish grandee, 5 times a duchess, once a countess-duchess, 18 times a marchioness, 18 times a countess and once a viscountess, according to the entry.

The most titled sovereign was, probably, Vittorio Emanuele III of Savoy (Vittorio Emanuele Ferdinando Gennaro Maria of Savoy, Naples, 11 November 1869 - Alexandria, Egypt, 28 December 1947), King of Italy (1900-1946), Emperor of Ethiopia (1936-1941 ), First Marshal of the Empire (4 April 1938) and King of Albania (1939-1943), nicknamed «Re soldato» (the King soldier) and «Re vittorioso» (the King victorious) for his constant presence at the front, and his "high drive" of military operations that led Italian victory in the First World War.
He was «Sua Maestà Vittorio Emanuele III, per grazia di Dio e per volontà della Nazione, Re d’Italia, Re d’Albania, Imperatore d’Etiopia, Re di Sardegna, Re di Cipro, di Gerusalemme e di Armenia, Duca di Savoia, Principe di Carignano, Principe di Piemonte, Principe di Oneglia, Principe di Poirino, Principe di Trino, Principe e Vicario perpetuo del Sacro Romano Impero, Principe di Carmagnola, Principe di Montmélian con Arbin e Francin, Principe balì del ducato d’Aosta, Principe di Chieri, Principe di Dronero, Principe di Crescentino,…» (His Majesty Victor Emmanuel III, by the Grace of God and the Will of the Nation, King of Italy, King of Sardinia, Cyprus, Jerusalem, Armenia, Duke of Savoy, count of Maurienne, Marquis (of the Holy Roman Empire) in Italy; prince of Piedmont, Carignano, Oneglia, Poirino, Trino; Prince and Perpetual vicar of the Holy Roman Empire; prince of Carmagnola, Montmellian with Arbin and Francin, prince bailliff of the Duchy of Aosta, Prince of Chieri, Dronero, Crescentino,...): these 18 noble titles listed are only a small part of those belonged to Vittorio Emanuele III. It have to add still another 67 titles overall, including Duke, Marquess, Earl, Baron and «nobil homo»!

King of Cyprus, Jerusalem, and Armenia?

King of Cyprus, Jerusalem, and Armenia?

Cyprus and Jerusalem were "purchased" titles, weren't' they?

Armenia is interesting ... Seems rather far afield.;)

Best,

I think the Habsburgs had quite a slew of titles. " by the grace of God Emperor of Austria; Apostolic King of Hungary, King of Bohemia, Dalmatia, Croatia, Slavonia, Galicia, Lodomeria, Illyria; King of Jerusalem, etc.; Archduke of Austria; Grand Duke of Tuscany, Crakow; Duke of Lorraine, Salzburg, Styria, Carinthia, Carniola, the Bukovina; Grand Prince of Transylvania; Margrave of Moravia; Duke of the Upper & Lower Silesia, Modena, Parma, Piacenza, Guastalla, Oswiecin, Zator, Cieszyn, Friuli, Ragusa, Zara; Princely Count of Habsburg, Tyrol, Kyburg, Gorizia, Gradisca; Prince of Trent, Brixen; Margrave of the Upper & Lower Lusatia, in Istria; Count of Hohenems, Feldkirch, Bregenz, Sonnenberg, etc.; Lord of Triest, Kotor, the Wendish March; Grand Voivode of the Voivodship of Serbia etc. etc.." That's the full title of Emperor Franz Joseph.

The other most titled monarch would be the Spanish Sovereign. These are the titles held by Felipe II " by the grace of God second of his name, king of Castille, Leon, Aragon, Portugal, Navarre, Naples, Sicily, Jerusalem, Majorca, Sardinia, and the islands, Indies, and terra firma of the Ocean Sea; archduke of Austria; duke of Burgundy, Lothier, Brabant, Limbourg, Luxembourg, Guelders, and Milan; Count of Habsburg, Flanders, Artois, and Burgundy; Count Palatine of Hainault, Holland and Zeeland, Namur, Drenthe, Zutphen; prince of "Zvuanem"; marquis of the Holy Roman Empire; lord of Frisia, Salland, Mechelen, and of the cities, towns, and lands of Utrecht, Overissel, and Groningen; master of Asia and Africa"

These are the titles held by Spain's current King, Felipe VI: King of Spain King of Castile, of León, of Aragon, of the Two Sicilies* (Naples and Sicily), of Jerusalem*, of Navarre, of Granada, of Toledo, of Valencia, of Galicia, of Majorca, of Seville, of Sardinia*, of Córdoba, of Corsica*, of Murcia, of Menorca, of Jaén, of the Algarves*, of Algeciras, of Gibraltar, of the Canary Islands, of the East Indies* and West Indies* and of the Islands and Mainland of the Ocean Sea*; Archduke of Austria*; Duke of Burgundy*, of Brabant*, of Milan*, of Athens*, of Neopatras* (New Patras) and of Limburg*; Count of Habsburg*, of Flanders*, of Tyrol*, of Roussillon* and of Barcelona; Lord of Biscay and of Molina

Finally, Spain's heir has the most titles for any heir presumptive/apparent. "Her Royal Highness The Most Serene Infanta Doña Leonor de Todos los Santos de Borbón y Ortiz, Princess of Asturias, Princess of Girona, Princess of Viana, Duchess of Montblanc, Countess of Cervera and Lady of Balaguer." The titles held by Leonor, Princess of Asturias.

So I'd say the most titled dynasty is definitely the Habsburgs, with Spain having a very large amount of titles as well.

Huh, the Ottomans never did relinquish claims to Azerbaijan, did they? But they also claim Parthia, Turkestan, and all of Tartaria?

We need a wank, ASAP.

I always found the Ottoman titles being some of the rather ridiculous.

How did he get the Corsican claim?

Nothing can beat their claim to be the "shadow of God on Earth".
