White armies Russia civil war

The problem with the Whites was that they were unable or unwilling to cooperate with each other. Had they had a unified command or not been almost as hostile to each other as they were the to the Bolsheviks they might have pulled it off. However Trotsky was a military genius and the Reds had the central position so could shift troops from front to front relatively quickly so the Whites would have had to be very lucky to win. Anyway even if the Whites had won, they'd probably have fallen into another civil war fairly quickly.

The general consensus in these discussions is this war was not one the White factions could win, but it was one the Reds could lose. Trotsky makes some bad decisions, or is undercut by others, or dies. Plenty of other items folks could bring up in this theme.

If France up to the end adhered to the line of preservation of "Uniform and indivisible" Russia and Britain so obviously did not support Soviets, then the Russian army had a chance of a victory.
P. S. "The cooperation problem" is one more Soviet myth since all white governments supported and recognized the "Supreme ruler" as the head of state. There was a problem of lack of a united front, but it was connected with strong counteraction by British. As the most banal example with attack and the evacuation in Arkhangelsk.
