Goldwater was a very shrewd and clever politician with a fairly pleaseant personality, with the correct campaign strategy he could win in 1960, especially if circumstance are in his favor.

1976 Regan, sure why not. Maybe Ford gets convinced not to run or takes his pension and splits.
 
Goldwater was actually a fairly good Senator post-candidacy. Just that most Republicans would flock to JFK- the country wasn't ready for that sort of conservatism. Reagan didn't make Dems (and most Reps IOTL) feel like he was going to push the button.
 
McCain in 2000 ... I think he would have combined toughness with shrewdness in foreign policy (much needed after 9/11) and would have been much more willing to make tough choices to reduce the deficit (or even prevent it from happening).
