Probably Hitler being assassinated. That means no Final Solution and possibly a German-Allies deal to crush the Soviet Union causing the Cold War to not happen.

Really, slavery being abolished way earlier, to me, is the best choice, because "WAY earlier" isn't given a quantifiable number of years. If slavery had been abolished, say, in 1700... BC, lots more people would be happy, and EVERYTHING else on this list would be butterflied away.

Well, the British are very civilized people, and one world government could help decrease conflict. Further, a lot of preventable problems in Africa are caused by corrupt govs. A British-controlled Africa would mean less world hunger.

THAT'S a good thing in my book.

"Papacy more tolerant..." It's a bit of a (well, a lot of a) massive overgeneralization but a medieval/Enlightenment Roman Catholic Church with an approach to learning like it has nowadays would do a lot to speed up things like medicine and industrialization which have had a more demonstrably positive effect on humanity than pretty much anything else on the list.

(Newton? You do know what country he lived in, right?)

The slavery abolotion any day...

If it was global and included all forms of slavery, even 1700 a.d. would be better then anything else on the list...

Um, the assassination attempt on Hitler was in Summer 1944 - how does this alter the Final Solution ? Wannsee was held on 20 January 1942

It would end the war in a less destructive manner, and certainly save a couple of million lives, many of whom WOULD be Jews, but the Final Solution would still have reaped its harvest up to that point

Its an interesting question what if no Holocaust, for that would assume the Jewish populations of Europe remain in their cities, and that even if an Israel is born it isn't seen as having some sort of divine right to do what it wants, heedless of the rest of the world

On the other hand, tho, anti-Semitism on a lower level may well remain a reasonably respectible view for several more decades, and the idea of a genocide to end all genocides, together with the concept of war crimes, would not exist

Which assassination attempt on Hitler? There were numerous attempts.

Why not assume Hitler does not survive WWI?

BTW-selected earlier ending of slavery. However slavery still exists to this day.....
