Which intelligence agencies would be the least damaged when the bombs fall?

Out of all the intelligence agencies of the U.S. alphabet soup, which would be the most salvageable if the bombs dropped during the 1980s?

Maybe the NSA. That’s at Fort Meade, MD. Halfway between Baltimore and DC. Still would likely be very effected by nuclear fallout. Depending on the size of the attack, The NSA HQ could see at the very least moderate damage. Everywhere else is too close to the DC area to function IMO.

Be right surprised if Crystal City wasn't scheduled for a direct hit.

All would be equally as damaged. Some personnels might survive but central organisation would be gone.

Each of the agencies are important enough that they would each get multiple warheads on each of their sites. Because of the number of targets around DC I am pretty sure there would be a pattern of strikes to make sure everything in a 75 mile radius of Capital Hill would be in the initial blast radius of the initial strike. Given that I have lived and worked in that circle most of my life I have never worried about what the aftermath of such a strike would be I figure we are the lucky ones since it would be over quickly.

They probably get their own personalized warhead.
Exactly. Its not like the Soviets then (or the Russians today, even with the reductions) have a shortage of warheads. And intelligence agency HQ are very high on the "kill it with (nuclear) fire" list/
