Henry VII

Gone Fishin'
In World War 1. If Germany had used its battleships instead of keeping them docked for the whole war, it would have been possible to invade and conquer them.

The best moment would have been early in the war, if Germany had went through Belgium and right to Dunkirk/Calais, then they could have launched an invasion of Britain and quite possible succeeded. Considering the level of French incompetence in the early parts of the war, Germany could have held the Western front and successfully taken London in a couple of months.

Also, if the Somme had been a German success, I suspect Germany could on paper launch an invasion on England and succeeded.

Other then World War One, I cant think of a time when England could have been conquered post Glorious Revolution.

Eh, excluding every other consideration, like that amphibious invasions are incredibly difficult to pull off on the scale needed to overrun a nation like the UK due to logistics, coordination, and the weather itself, how would Germany be able to even keep the supply chains needed for such an invasion going against the entire Royal Navy, which outnumbered and outgunned the High Seas Fleet? Sure, the British home army wasn't all that big but for Germany to ship over enough troops in the right weather conditions while having enough to pressure the French as they did OTL and manage to beat back the Royal Navy enough that the amphibious landings can happen AND being able to supply the troops so they don't get cut off and stranded across the Channel (thus making it a colossal mistake)? That's an extreme wank and wouldn't end in the conquest of Britain like the OP stated. Best case is the Germans, if literally everything goes right and the British screw literally everything up, would force the British out of the war, not force a conquest. The Germans have no capability to hold all of Britain and its colonial empire, not enough ships and not enough men to pacify all of Britain, let alone while simultaneously fighting France and Russia.

While I also think a amphibious invasion of britain is extremely difficult, I dont think it would be impossible to pacify it when it's taken. A naval invasion from across the atlantic has even less chance to succeed than one over 40 kms of channel. And during WW1, Ireland could be freed and that'd be another big problem for an British liberation force.

@op, maybe during the seven years war?

So I locked a thread yesterday where you did the exact same thing, making the opening post be one word "title' and posted a strong advisory that this sort of thing was unacceptable on a DISCUSSION BOARD, and you chose to go back to the water hole?

Uh-huh.

Generally a bad idea to return to staked out water holes.

Kicked for a week. You would be well advised to pay attention this time.
