I can't understand why a website would allow a temporary email address for registration purposes. It kind of defeats the purpose of requiring an email address.

It wouldn't make any sense if site would accept temporal e-mail adresses. It would kill any point for requirement of e-mail.

If someone who otherwise looks like a legitimate user is using a throwaway email or proxy server, I try to let them know that's why I rejected them. We get a lot of registrations and a lot of spammers registering, so we can't pay careful loving attention to each and every one.

Also I only approved this account because I was going to ban you for being a sockpuppet, so I'll just go ahead and do that now.

Rather obvious from the very first post, but yes the mods have the tools to follow up on that.

Is this why the Sheepism religion disappeared from AH.com?

So...someone got banned, managed to register a sockpuppet, then started a thread basically asking why it was so hard to register a sockpuppet account?

...Does AH.com have a version of the Darwin Awards? If so, I think we found our winner...

This guy has been getting banned in various incarnations for at least five years. He really is, every time he comes back, that incredibly stupid.

One time he registered a username with a typo, made a thread asking how to change his username not to have the typo, I noticed it was him and banned him, then he tried registering the username he'd requested, and when I banned that, he tried two or three different spelling variants, I guess looking for one I wouldn't ban?

Alas, he is far from the only candidate that does this. My current favorite is the one who sneaks through about once every 10-15 tries, then one of his first posts is usually to ask what you need to do it avoid being Banned.

The reasons people get banned for on here will never cease to amaze me...

(Thinks back to that Millard Fillmore apologist guy)
