What Would The World Look Like If The Allies Won WW2?

We all know that in our timeline the triple alliance of Germany, Italy, and Japan, commonly known as the Axis Powers, won the Second World War, pounding the western nations of Great Britain and France into the ground, setting up fascist puppet states in the ashes of these countries, and then beginning the long drawn out political deadlock that was the "Cold Phony War" between the United States and Germany.

But what if this never occured? what if half a century of history was different? what if the allies won the war? what would be the future of democracy in Europe and Asia? what would be Soviet Russia's fate? could a "Cold Phony War" break out between a victorious Allies and Soviet Union?

OOC: Should probably have put DBWI in front of this, people might get confused.

If the Allies won WW2, they more than likely would've gone straight to war with the USSR, let's not forget anti-communism was rampant in the west before the war and the Soviets were held as the greatest enemy before Hitler smashed them in the offensives of 1942 which were the end for the Soviet Union. How to have the Allies triumph would be to bring the U.S. into WW2, how could be if Japan attacked the Philippines around 1940-41 ish. Second is for Stalin to not purge as many generals especially Zhukov and Chuikov, those men were really talented at their job but Stalinist handling fucked it all up, maybe if Stalin relents to his generals (ASB I know since he was really paranoid given the Great Terror in the 30s) they could use the might of the Soviet Union against the Germans more effectively with American aid.

Once the war is over with Hitler most likely captured (I can see his government giving him up to prevent Germany's total destruction) the Allies might reinstate former nazi officials and prep for war with the Soviets who'll be weak after the war from the Germans. The end result is a wrecked Europe, Nazism being discredited, Fascism might survive in a weakened form in some countries but nothing like today, and Russia balkanized under pro-western governments.

Japan is interesting because it couldn't win a protracted war against America which they knew and wisely avoided, Japan would just quite simply get pushed back island by island by America until they reach the Home Islands, doing so would pull troops out of China to defend the Home Islands. An invasion is more than likely which would be devastating, the Americans could use atomic weapons on Japan to soften them up until Japan is a smoldering ruin occupied by America and made a Republic or something with the Emperor abolished.

I think it would have ended up with probably the rotten ediface of the USSR collapsing anyway and fragmenting into minor nations once the common purpose of WW2 was no longer holding it together. I don't think that it would be pretty.

Germany would cease to exist and be broken up into its former states.

Japan would likely be divided between the USA and Russia and China is likely to be dominated by the US backed nationalist Government - the Communists were too disorganised IMO

Then the US 'Empire' and the British Empire would 'have it out' over the worlds resources ie the USA trying to pry away Britains grip on world trade

Very likely that this would be in teh form of a 'cold war' and 'economic war' played out over several decades - a difficult one for the UK as I can see the Imperial states like India gaining independence during this period while the USA relatively unscathed by the war would have an advantage.

I remember that the Japanese had a plan to invade the Western European Colonies in the SEA region, before it was shelved when the plan to attack the shattered remnants of the USSR were approved. And with the Philippines being a potential sword of Damocles in their sides, the US would be dragged in?

I think that losses that our countries suffered in the World War II weould prevent any sane politician from waging direct war with a Soviet Union. Besides, Soviets were and are allies of the United States despite some ideological differences. They've changed a lot since the death of Joseph Stalin after all.

Atomic bombs? It would be viewed as a too extreme to the 1940s Americans.

Opressed nations may want to take revenge against oppressors. Poles suffered the worst casualties in the war (8 millions of Second Republic survived). Soviets lost 50 millions - imagine reprisals against hated enemy in ATL!

I don't think an American-Japanese War was plausible. Almost every country in the world has plans for wars against their neighbours.

I felt it was quite close what with the US threatening sanctions against japan regarding their behaviour in China, furthermore if the sanctions and embargo against the Japanese were implemented, the Japanese would have incentive to attack the SEA colonies for their abundant natural resources.

Would they ever take the risks of a war against much powerful country? I don't think saw. They did not attack Soviet Union until it became clear that the Red Army was falling. If they really were into their propaganda of war, they would done it on June 1941.
