What would the Philippines be called if spain never conquered them?

If they are conquered by an European kingdom, they will adapt the name of the monarch/dynasty/prince of the moment. It could be called "Barangay", like what happened with Canada.
that had been my basic thought process with the "San Lazaro" idea--plenty of places have been named based on one tiny geographical feature which ended up being applied to a whole region and then an entire country, so it's entirely plausible that it could happen to the Philippines as well

Well, if I remember correctly, Kanata meant "Home" in the language of the people that Cartier met, so he thougt it was the name of the continent. Barangay meant "community"
