What would the British colonization of a Maori settled Australia look like?

Say, that, the Maoris migrated to and settled Tasmania, Victoria and parts of New South Wales, assimilating the relatively few Aboriginals of those areas. The Maoris were more technologically advanced than the Aboriginal Australians and had a more warrior like culture. I have no doubt that the British colonization of those areas would be harder than in our timeline. Would the British have signed a treaty with this timeline's Australian Maoris, like they did with the New Zealand Maoris, in our timeline? What would this timeline's Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales look like?

It depends on how the Maori settled Australia.

It's simple, they migrate from New Zealand to Australia and settle the areas that are closest to New Zealand and that have relatively few Aboriginals: Tasmania and the coast of Victoria and New South Wales.
The rest of Australia is still populated by the Aborginals.

Yes, but what is the structure? The Maori were never politically unified until rather recently, and cannot simply just "settle" areas a la England or France. Not to mention the South Island and New Zealand itself was never extremely populated by the Maori (partially because New Zealand, while very warm, couldn't quite sustain a lot of the very tropical plants that were used elsewhere by other Polynesians) and especially once the Maori begin to settle in genuinely agricultural settlements they have plenty of land to go on. You would have to change the nature of Maori settlement, and thus Maori culture whatsoever, before you have the Maori start trying to settle anywhere outside of New Zealand. Sure, you could have the Maori politically survive British colonization at least in the North Island, but Australia would be very British at this point and it would be extremely difficult to have the Maori actually settle Australia.

I know that the South Island of New Zealand had a small population.
Regardless, read metalinvader665's post in https://www.alternatehistory.com/fo...ian-australia-look-like.461353/#post-18384505 for how a Maori settlement of Australia may look like.
