What would Successful-and-less-crazy Taiping look loke?

- Assume the Taiping rebellion succeeds militarily, and they totally usurp the Qing.
- Assume also that, after succeeding, they look around and realize “whelp, we gotta calm down a bit and figure out how to govern China in a reasonable fashion.”

What might their rule look like?

Pro-Western, interested in technology (as OTL). Probably the teaching that Hong is Christ's younger brother is either made metaphorical or else universalized ("Christ is older brother to us all . . .") Probably lots and lots of missionaries brought in from the West.

Yea, a heretical Christian China would not fare much better than the Qing, and had probably doomed their efforts to gain Western support. Bringing it in line with one of the major Christian sects (Protestant, most likely, though a Catholic or Orthodox one would be fun to see) could change things, though I'm pretty sure the Heavenly Kingdom would not want to maintain the unequal treaties.

Maybe Hong Rengan can drag them a bit closer to sanity? Depending on the timeline of the Taiping victory and whether he still spends some time in Hong Kong.
