What would pop culture be like if there was never a war on terror?

Would the TV show 24 never exist? How would this effect BSG? Would BSG still be dark in this timeline or never exist at all? Does the SCI-FI channel make a more lighthearted space adventure instead?

Would would video games be like in this timeline? Would the industry still be successful in defending themselves against the religious right and nanny statists?

Would there be more video games like Final Fantasy IX?

What does this mean for Bioware? Mass Effect has been called Jack Bauer in space.

Would Bioware make KOTOR 3 instead or would Mass Effect turn out differently?

24 had already been ordered to series before 9/11 so it would still exist, it might not be as big of a hit as it was OTL though.

You would see more anti corporate messages/stuff most likely, instead of 9/11 being shown 24/7 for a couple months, Enron's breakup is covered bit by bit in excruciating detail, which would have some impact

I agree- in a similar vein you would also see a continuation of the major late 90s pop cultural themes dealing with of middle-class ennui and alienation in spite of having all material needs satisfied (American Beauty, Fight Club, etc.)

Anti corporate? Would that mean Cerberus in this universe’s Mass Effect would be a huge corporation instead of a shadowy group?

That depends on how other events would alter that universes Mass Effect, assuming the POD doesn't wipe it away. Or it could be much different, shady black ops like Cerberus were already a staple, it could still stay officially part of the SA military rather than being rogue and seperate, with Citadel leadership being more antagonistic, Sovereign working through a corrupt MegaCorp rather than Saren, Shepard being ex military with a stolen ship, that sort of thing

Enron and other dealings of big corproations could mean that the big media and focus goes to white collar crime, especially without a war on terror or 9/11. Mad Men would become pretty different to say the least

This POD assumes the Star Wars prequels are still crappy but earn big at the box office. Bioware’s Knights of the Old Republic is still successful in this timeline.

The people at Bioware wanted to make their own universe with a space opera story that would be told in a trilogy.

Whether the first game of this TLs Bioware space opera game is up to you.

I love all those ideas!

It started off like KOTOR but they added shooter elements to appeal to a bigger audience.

The original concept was more like KOTOR.
