What would have happed if the Aboriginals (Australia) were advanced?

Im not sure if this is the right board for this but its something i have always wondered about.

What would have happened if in 1770 Captain Cook arrived in Australia to find the aboriginal people have formed a advanced society (equivalent of early 21st century technology). The Aboriginals had mastered all the technology which we all take for granted today (trains, electricity, cars, HD tv's, roads, internet, satellites, planes and weapons which Cook could have only dreamed of etc) but for whatever reason they had no interest in exploring the rest of the world.

This thread is assuming that instead of forming nomadic tribes 45,000 years ago the Aboriginal people slowly improved their society with inventions and social reforms at a faster rate than what was happening in Europe.

What would have happened when Cook returned to England and word spread around Europe of this extremely advanced race of black people on the other side of the world?

I simply see no way for this to occur outside of ASB intervention. As already mentioned, Lands of Red and Gold is a good timeline with more advanced Australian Aboriginies, but you simply aren't going to get the Atlantian Aboriginies you describe.

Well i am new to this forum so i didn't know exactly where to put this thread but i do beleve that it would have been possible for the Abroginals to advance faster than Europe.

Remember the Aboriginals arrived in Australia 45,000 years ago. That is plenty of time to slowly set up a society and slowly improve technology. Europe was held back with the dark ages and many other events so if the Aboriginals were a inventive society there is no reason why they couldn't progess faster than Europe did.

If you believe this is so, can you explain why the peoples of Eurasia developed much more technologically advanced civilizations than the Australians?

Some of the Aboriginals were very inventive. The eel farms they created were extremely well designed. And several groups had intricate societies and tricks to survive the horrible continent of Australia. Unfortunately the most advanced groups were the first ones to be killed off and driven aside by the Europeans. So most of their history and society has been lost, and only fragments are discovered by archeologists.
But Australia has no easy to domesticate plants or animals. Most of its desert, and even the wet areas can have massive and long term droughts. Its hard to develop a society, especially when you only have man power, when you may have decade long droughts.
