What would be the effect of the Spanish Flu if WW1 hadn't occurred?

I'm making my first AH scenario and it doesn't have WW1 in it due to many factors, but what would be the effect of the Spanish Flu if WW1 hadn't occurred?

No WW1 and Spanish Flu might not even occur at all depending on which theory for its source you go with. Without WW1 then people are in better shape but one feature of Spanish Flu was that it was unusually deadly to otherwise healthy people. Without as much mixing due to demobbing soldiers etc then it might only kill half as many but if quarantine measures are not taken quickly, it could be nearly as deadly as OTL. It was the first real pandemic in a world with widespread rapid travel and that was a big factor in enabling it to spread rather than burn out.

A whole lot of people are healthier, wealthier, and smarter. https://www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/abs/10.1086/507154

"Data from the 1960–80 decennial U.S. Census indicate that cohorts in utero during the pandemic displayed reduced educational attainment, increased rates of physical disability, lower income, lower socioeconomic status, and higher transfer payments compared with other birth cohorts."

Japan is slightly weaker than our timeline compared to their neighbors as their travel restrictions kept the death rate low compared to other Asian nations. Overall though it seems really had to tell what impact no flu would have had. It affected the world heavily but fairly evenly and dropped out of public memory so quickly.

I agree with pjmidd, with no training camps to infect large numbers of men at once the disease should spread slower. And no WWI means more resources to fight it which should help.

We were lucky that long-distance airline travel wasn't available, the next pandemic is going to go global in a matter of days and will not be easy to stop...
