What would a successful Bavarian 'Trias' policy look like in 20th century Germany?

In the 1800s Bavaria pushed for unity between the small and middle powers in Germany in order to compete with the giants of Prussia and Austria.

If Bavaria were able to successfully pursue this policy further, what would the borders look like? What kind of changes would we see to the unification of Germany? How would other European nations react to the appearance of a new great power?

It would have been impractical post-Vienna for some of the smaller states to be united in this way, especially by a Catholic Bavaria.
