What would a Muslim Enlightenment look like?

I think it can be argued that while the Enlightenment arose clearly from its precursor civilization, it was also in some ways a real break with the Europe that had existed prior to that. If in some part of the Muslim world, it does not have to be the Middle East, the Enlightenment had happened there instead of Europe, what would it have looked like? Enlightenment Modernity in Europe led rather directly to the bloodbaths in Russia and in France, which in part had to do with Latin-Rite Europe's centering on belief as key. Islam has centered less on belief, so would an Islamic vision of modernity lead to the kind of horrors modern times did from a Christian viewpoint?

I think it is pretty easy to suggest that it was the muslim enlightenment that led to the European enlightenment. It goes a little like this. In Europe all learning that is unpopular with the church is forced underground or removed completely. While a more enlightened young Islamic community takes on the mantle of scientific growth for a few hundred years. Then there religious establishment force upon them their version of the Dark Ages. Europe lightens up a little and the baton is passed back to Europe. In essence an overbearing religious structure will deny and put down learning that goes against the accepted and religiously agreed upon norm.

Well, it's not completely random that Enlightenment took place in Christian Europe.
While Enlightenment took a strong position often of atheism, but always against
clerical power, it - involuntarily - builds on the philosophical and practical prerequisities
of a Christian society. On the philosophical side, there is for instance the focus on
the individual, a non-casualistic ethics, and the individuals' responsibility for their own
right-doing. On the practical side, the reformation had already visibly undermined
the universal claim of any church. The ancient legacy, which was common to Orient
and Occident, was crucial for the Enlightenment, but not sufficient.
