What would a lasting Afsharid Empire look like?

Let's assume that Nader Shah didn't go crazy towards the end of his rule and that he secures a stable succession for the Afsharid Empire, allowing it to last after his death. What would a lasting Afsharid Empire look like? How would it develop? Could it modernize and industrialize?

Probably it could take many directions depending rulers and how history is going.

Best case: Persia industrialise and modernise and becomes stable constitutional monarchy with some western influence and good relationships with western powers.

Worst case: Afsharids mess everything. Partial balkanisation, increased foreign influence, backwardness and finally overthrown of the dynasty and then things are going shittier. Perhaps something like OTL Iran.

1. Pretty much better and stronger than Qajar Persia. In a position to intervene in India.

2. Depends on. If it is at peace, trade can grow, education can develop and industrialisation could happen earlier to some degree. Most importantly, Persia can centralise earlier. If it is at constant war, the best and one of the few developments would be military.

3. See nr.2. Most likely in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia and Khuzestan at first. In the late 19th early, 20th century in Central Persia as well.

@Nassirsimo is your man to answer this.

Bes sure to check his excellent timeline on a longer lasting Afsharid state.

Depends, really. It all depends on the Afsharid leadership throughout whether Iran will rose to one of the world's great powers or into ruins following the path of OTL.

Pretty much sums it up.

Which ones? Assuming the Afsharids last and modernise, how does this affect their neighbours? India? The Ottoman Empire?
