All, there is another thread which has now become a bit personal. So, I got inspired to start a new one. sorry people:
Are there any preparations which could have made Barbarossa even semi-successful.
Successful in this context is:
1) Leningrad and turning the baltic into a German lake
2) Moscow
2) Stalingrad and caucasus
... and probably a few othr areas here and there.
I have a few ideas:
1) railways: Building new one's and/or get the russian one's repaired and makng them into European gauge
2) Prepare for a 2-3 year war
3) Winter clothing
4) Realistic objectives for 2-3 years
5) Encouraging Ukraine and others to join: no "untermensch"
6) Other suggestions?
...and what impact.
Bearing in mind, Paulus thought it could be achieved. Halder thoght it could be achived, Guderian thought so too, although with a few modifications. and those were not just stupid people.
Ideas?
