What should I do next?

Now that I am rested up a bit from completing THE GUNS OF THE TAWANTINSUYA, it is time to decide what to do next. I had originally planned to finish out THE BLACK AND THE GRAY, but I am running into a bit of writers block on that, and have decided instead to set up a poll and let my readers decide which timeline they would most like to see me continue next, as I feel this might provide inspiration to help me relieve my writer's block.

The most up-to-date versions of all the timelines in the poll, except the Assyria vs. Greece timeline...which can be found here...are to be found at my website, for any of you who haven't read them and might like to do so before voting.

So let the voting begin!

either Third Hittite Empire or Assyria Conquers Greece is perfect, imho.

In order of Preference: Assyria, Hittites, Britons, Etruscans, Confederates. Of course, I'd be glad to see any of them.

Yes, a good epic story about the Arthurian dynasty of British Kings into the present day would be a great and long one to write. The world would then be a much better place today.:) :D

Wow. This poll is not coming out as I expected at all so far. It will be interesting to see what the final result will be.

The Once and Future King. That sounds the most interesting and will also be the easiest to write. You'll have almost zero worries about small historical details tripping you up as nothing beyond the very broad outlines is known of that era at all. OTOH, that might be very challenging, as you have little real history to hang your concepts on.

More importantly, it seems a very original idea. It's probably just indicative of my poor reading in this area but I can't recall any story, even just one on this board, that treats the Arthurian legend in the way you propose.

Maybe Jack Vance's Lyonesse series, but I dunno, they're pretty ASB and set in someplace close by but not England, and they don't have any line of high kings. Your idea seems pretty unique.

Actually, what I am proposing here is a continuation of a timeline that I started on "Ye Olde Board" (i.e. alternatehistory.com pre-VBulletin days). I had done the timeline from c. 410 AD to 700 AD. I may go back and revise these sections before posting all new material on the timeline, if BRITONS TRIUMPHANT happens to be the winner of the poll. The original, as far as I got on the old board before I gave it up and started something new, is now posted on my website, if you'd like to read it. Or, if you prefer, I am sure you can dig it up by doing a search in the old board archives.

As a Texan, I know which one I like...Britons Triumphant!!!! Take this to the 21st century, if possible, then do the Hittites.

Etruscans than Assyrians.....The British did pretty well IRL. Just my opinion. And I like lots of butterflys. :D

Well, it looks like, unless something dramatically changes here, that I am doing BRITONS TRIUMPHANT. Who would have thunk it? I had expected THE THIRD HITTITE EMPIRE to be the clear leader in the poll. :eek: But this one might be a good one for me. I haven't touched it longer than any of the others I have done, so it might be a refreshing change.

Sorry Robert for the long response...I really am suprised so many people want to see The Arthurian Timeline started on next...I had a hard time choosing between Assyria conquers Greece and Third Hittite Empire...But in the end I stuck with my baby...Live Hatti, Live...For Me:D
