What about Operation Unthinkable?

As I recall it was mostly defensive in nature, and expected to take massive casualties. Also the fact that it was named "operation unthinkable" more or less implies that the original planners pretty much knew it was a desperate move. Besides, it was only meant to be implemented in the event of a Soviet advance across the Iron Curtain, not like they would have much choice but to implement if the conditions were met.
