Look at Herman Goering.
- Head of the Luftwaffe (the most technologically advanced branch of the military) when he understood little of engineering and production and was said half-jokingly that he didn't know how to work his radio; also failed to develop a long-range bomber, and completely bungled the Stalingrad Air Lift
- He controlled half of the antiaircraft batteries so the Luftwaffe was competing with the Army for guns and ammunition.
- Was in charge of the economy when he knew little of economics and understood even less (essentially the Nazi economy was run on war loot)
Basically, by saying it could be done in the first place because the German forces in Stalingrad needed 750 tons daily at a minimum. The best they did was 300 tons. In fact Luftflotte 4 could only do 107 tons a day maximum.
Gehelen. Gave Hitler the intelligence on the Red Army he wanted and failed to emphasis the uncomfortable facts Hitler did not want to hear.
Udet, lacked the really serious administrative & political talent needed to take the Luftwaffe from 1940 to the requirements for the 1941-44 war. He a was a talented visionary & start up manager, but failed as the requirements changed.
Ribbentrop. Failed to provide Hitler with a coherent plan to bring Britain to peace negotiations in July 1940. The Germans leaders efforts towards a peace in the west were so pathetic its difficult to even see their effort.
