I think we would have to assume that the armored and two indian division in Egypt during 1940 would have been pretty mauled in Germany getting to this point. Maybe the Royal Navy evacuates the Eastern Mediterranean or maybe they are trying to work through enormous logistic challenges.

What level of force would have been necessary to eject Britain from the fertile crescent. Taking the oilfields and Basra. Dominating the oil pipeline to Lebanon and generally changing the dynamics of the mid and possibly late war?
