What if? What if France had been able to defend itself?

Better than OTL ought to be possible, doesn't it. OTL was quite a blow for 'La grande Nation' (the great Nation = (La) France) and their pride.

France wasn't like the Low Countries both small armies and one even ill equipped (thank you Dutch politicians:rolleyes:) but both fought fierce and bravely (against such an adversary), it (or she? (la France)) had a large well equipped army and with better leadership and decisions could have done better.
Maybe a stalemate, although countering the remilitarization of the Rhineland by the Nazi's in hindsight might be better, but OTOH a more democratic Weimar government should have been able to do this at a certain point. Versailles was kind of toxic, especially when one remembers that the Britishers and Frenchmen were just as nationalistic as the Germans (especially) in the ''Belle Epoque'' before WWI.

I hate French tanks, the devil is in the details. The Somua looks great on paper but in reality it's quite powerful 47mm gun was in a 1 man turret, which sucks dogs ball in practice. IIRC a lot of French tanks had good guns in 1 man turrets, and therefore a lot of French tanks sucked dogs ball in practice.

As for France seriously delaying German victory, yes it could happen readily enough. Perhaps France could be a little more vigorous with the Saar offensive, or deploy the large number of warplanes which were in the interior at surrender to the battle zones.

When Germany attacked France the French Air Force was in the middle of refitting and reequipping .

Lets look at France Did they lose as much land in there 6 weeks as the USSR lost did in the first 6 weeks of the Russian Fount .
