Would that still be true for Dora?I would say the Me-109 would win most engagements, better speed and weaponry plus the German pilots had better air combat doctrine from their SCW experience.
Against the D series it might be more of a 50-50 thing.Would that still be true for Dora?
There were still a fair few 109D in service during the Polish invasion and an axishistoryforum post suggests there might have been a few 109B as well, although that's not completely clear and I might have misunderstood.
Edit. I'm now near certain I'd misread the 109B reference.

F-106 Delta Dart or BAC Lightning (side-by-side engine design) vs. MiG-21;
F-106 is my favorite century series fighterSaw this a while back, you might find it interesting:
Tested with 106s and F-104 playing the part of the MiGs.
I never knew the F-106 had a computer controlled fuel tank to move the center of gravity of the aircraft until I saw this video...
Regards,
I believe most of those kills were bombers but I could be wrong.Not so sure Cortez as the Polish AF put up a decent showing with even the PZL-11 getting 109 kills.
The Sunda Strait crisis had many similarities to the actual air combat between the US and Libya some 17 years later where F-14s splashed Su-22s after Libya had declared the Gulf of Sirte territorial waters and forbade anyone entering without their permission. The US of course claimed freedom of navigation and made a point of sailing those watets.What would the Migs be trying to do and or why would the RN want to shoot them down ? Would the Migs be flying anti ship strikes ? Trying to intercept RN Strikes air strikes etc ?
Fighter vs Fighter combat just for the sake of trying to shoot each other down seems a bit unlikely to me in this context but I suppose it could have happened ? (Maybe both sides fly fighter sweeps and they bump into each other ?)
My understanding is the RCAF expressed a preference for the F106 vs the F101 but I don’t know if Canada ever formally considered buying them. Other than that I am not aware of any other nations considering acquiring the F106 (but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen )F-106 is my favorite century series fighter
Pity it was not exported would love to see the Luftwaffe / Portuguese crosses or Turkish crescents on them
Even if it’s not as beautiful as the voodoo
Yes it wasn’t exported, it’s cousin the F-102 was acquired by Turkey and Greece ( God only knows why since there were so many better options)My understanding is the RCAF expressed a preference for the F106 vs the F101 but I don’t know if Canada ever formally considered buying them. I suspect the U.S. provided the F102’s on reasonable termsYes it wasn’t exported, it’s cousin the F-102 was acquired by Turkey and Greece ( God only knows why since there were so many better options)
Yep Most likely were donationsI suspect the U.S. provided the F102’s on reasonable terms
Yes. As in free of charge. The first aircraft Greece actually paid for after WW2 was F-4E in 1972.I suspect the U.S. provided the F102’s on reasonable terms
To make it a fight both need to be carrying missiles and with the British using all aspect sidewinders, it's a foregone conclusion. Now, if both have similar missiles, you have two airliners dogfigthing each other (!)RAF Nimrod vs Argentine 707 / Lear jets use for MPA in the Falklands? The Nimrods were crash modified to carry sidewinders for that eventuality
