What if Theodora and Belisarius had an affair?

Several days after the pacification of the Nika Riots Justinian hears from his barber that Theodora is cavorting in the bed chamber of Belisarius. Justinian marches in and catches them in the act. What would be the short and the long term effects?

... I'd ship it?

I also think Byzantine Italy wouldn't have worked even without a Theodora-Belisarius rivalry, unless their relationship can wash away the Plague of Justinian.

So, this is basically a question of what if Belisarius were executed before he could go on any overseas expeditions? I suppose the Vandal campaign next year would be mounted anyways with someone else in charge; most likely someone much less talented.

Theodora was supposed to have been quite the beauty.

Well, at this distance in time with only descriptions of her and one or two Byzantine church portraits (which let's face it, aren't necessarily the most realistic) it's hard to say. Also, all the contemporary sources agree (even those written against her) on her beauty.

However, as to the idea of Theodora being caught In flagrante delicto with Belisarius when she was friends with his wife Antonina (reportedly from the days when both were actresses/performers) seems (not) a little unlikely to me.
