What If The Walking Dead was made by HBO

It would have been better plain and simple. It'd be less watered down from the comics, have a bigger budget right from the get-go, arguably better actors especially in the supporting roles etc.

I mean compare a fellow genre show like Game of Thrones to The Walking Dead and it's no contest the quality level.

More gore on the same level as Ash Vs Evil Dead. Bigger budget so they could attract bigger names (no offense Andrew Lincoln, still love you!!)

Not that big a change. Maybe no Talking Dead.
Naked zombies, their clothing destroyed by time and wear?
More cursing.
Game of Thrones stays closer to the books, I believe, so probably similiar. No Daryl. Michonne by a better actress (not hard).

It would've stayed closer to comics and would've been far bloodier and more disturbing. The governor would've lived up to his potential and there would probably be loads of controversy surrounding the scenes where he rapes michonne and crew and some of his caged walkers. Race relations would probably be explored more and nudity would be common.

By this time, there would be more controversy, this time having to do with the cannibals and the road rapists they encountered on the road to dc.

Overall, zombies would not be as popular as it is today...but it would be growing in popularity. And AMC would probably in the process of producing a copy cat show as of 2015.

Disagree. Zombies as a pop phenomena was already in full swing before the show premiered it was merely part of it. Trust me I got quite caught up into it and became a fan of the TWD comics and was pretty excited for the show...which I quit by the start of the 3rd season.

Anyways aside from that again Game of Thrones is a huge pop-culture phenomena and last seasons ratings taking account of multi-platform viewing were almost right there with TWD you can look it up.

TWD is the odd man out for AMC most of its other shows don't get a fraction of its ratings. Including Breaking Bad for most of its run. With the buzz and promotions HBO is known for it could have arguably even been bigger than how it started off on AMC.
