What if the USA annexes Japan in '45 .

More info? Literally annexation? That's impossible. Japan population at this time was 72.000.000. US population was 150.000.000 at this time. Go to ASB....

Even in the absolute worst-case scenario (for Japan) Operation Downfall where Japan suffers Paraguayan War levels of death (60-70% of the population), the US would never annex Japan. Whether it's 20 million or 70 million people, annexing a country full of people who hate you and is also a smoldering ruin (in the case of the 20 million population Japan, is even more of a smoldering ruin) is a pretty terrible idea. What politicians would want that?

Try it a bit later. See if you can get a couple million Koreans driven off their peninsula. Maybe also jam the area with refugees form other places.

Why USA would annex Japan? Annexation of enemy wasn't ever its politics and it would be anyway politically and economically extremely stupid. Even after Operation Downfall Japanese wouldn't accept that. Annexation wouldn't be worth of problems to United States.

I urge the OP to stop posting so many barebone threads that propose highly implausible scenarios with very little details. You started 7 threads this afternoon in the span of roughly 3 hours.

I agree that a scenario needs to be a little better fluffed out before being posted. At least a little background on its plausibility rather than just tossing meat to the wolves and seeing what happens.

But enough about that. Annexing Japan is ASB. Placing it under administrative control for several years is possible.

Making Okinawa a US territory is plausible and interesting.
