~100 years ago there was a movement to meyk dhe Eenglic langwaj fonetic. But what if it gained more traction in the US, leading the US to make the Yewnayted Steyts of Amerika Beeroo of dhe Eenglic Langwaj in the early 1900s, which in 1915 issued the 1915 English Orthography Reform, making everything phonetic. Q and x no longer exist, aa, ee, oo, and th have the same rule, the c is now a sh, ch is now tc, the jh has been made for that sound the z makes in azure (now ajhur), and the ð sound in the is now dh.
What would be the repercussions of this? Would the UK, Canada, and Australia adopt the American spellings? What would the status of English be today? Would American English now be considered its own language?
