What if the US lost the revolutionary war?

How would the world have been affected? I know that the entire course of the global history would have been changed, but in short, what would've happened? Who would be the leading superpower today? What would replace Hollywood, etc.?

You may want to search that up; I know for sure there's hundreds of threads like this around the internet.

But, to answer your question, it probably depends on how the Americans lost the war. Did they get defeated by the British while the French/Spanish/Dutch were helping them? Or did they get swiftly put down by the British before foreign powers could intervene?

What would most likely happen though, is that you have a USA that tries to revolt again in a few decades or so. If the second revolt is successful, you get the USA but with some differences, depending on the time of the second revolt. If the second revolt is unsuccessful, either a third revolt follows, or the USA is made into a Dominion.

Thank you for the reply. I have searched and searched, but can't seem to find a concrete answer. In my scenario, the US is at war and Washington is surrendering to Cornwallis. How would for example the borders be changed? Would North America possibly have as many nations as South America?

If this is the case, wouldn't it be simply a matter of time before the next rebellion occurs?

Unless Parliament addresses the concerns that led the Americans to rebel in the first place, then yes. While the revolution failing would boost the position of the Loyalists and those on the fence to staying with the Crown, the larger garrison left in America and the costs of keeping them would in the medium to long run only serve to increase tensions.

Given that the voices in Parliament calling for a harsh response to the rebellion in TTL were proven right I don't see the more reasonable voices winning out in calls for a easier response. As a result they'll most likely just repeat the same policies that led to the first rebellion until a new generation of leaders stands up to make another bid for independence.

Thank you for the answers. But I have one more question.

If the Revolution was lost and Britain had remained in America, how would the borders in modern North America be?

I have two different alternatives:
1. The brits would have crossed the Appalachian mountains and screwed the indians over, taking both their and other imperial colonies like Spain (Spain's authority in Spanish America is fading with the Spanish American wars of independence) and France (France was greatly weakened after the revolution). The brits take over their colonies and thus create an english North America loyal to the crown. Would North-America be one nation today?

2. America is a loose alliance of states with Spanish, German, English and French cultures and different borders today.

What would be more plausible and why? Would Native Americans have their own territories in eastern US rather than the west?

But the Spanish American wars wouldn't occur. With a POD around 50 years earlier they aren't occurring. They were caused by the lack of authority in Spain and in Mexico and Peru were nearly crushed

So that means if the brits went with option 1, they'd lose against the Spanish? But if we look away from the spanish american wars and look at the war of succession. THeir authority was still fading in Spanish America right? Would option 1 still be possible?

If American Revolutionary War were to be Crushed and British North America would be like Canada as in OTL and there would a More Bigger Canada

Slavery would be Abolished Sooner in 1830's and Civil War never Happened

There would also be Chinese and East Indian Planters in Deep South like that has in Caribbean in OTL

so French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars would be Probably be Butterflied

Unification of Germany and I Think would Still Happen but Quite Later and German Nationalism was originated Before Napoleon and Frederick II the Great was a Earlier German Nationalist

Germany was Kind of Semi-Unified similar like Federal mostly the Holy Roman Empire
