This is more a request for your ideas than for a specific ship. So if you feel someone picking your brains, it’s me.

What if the naval developments of the 1930's and 1940's didn't happen or didn't happen in quite the same way?

For example:

In 1909 the French inventor Clément Ader publishes his book "L'Aviation Militaire" the description of a ship to operate airplanes at sea, with a flat flight deck, an island superstructure, deck elevators and a hangar bay. But the US Naval Attaché in Paris never read it or sent a report on his observations.

In August 1917 Nikola Tesla published an article proposing that radio location might help find submarines. But a critique by long time rival Thomas Edison proving that locating submarines by radio beams was unworkable keeps Tesla's article from being widely read.

The "Revolt of the Admirals" occurs in the 1920's with the Army Air Corps winning. The Lexington class is scrapped. Planes for the Cantigny class Aircraft Transport Carrier remain a low priority with the USAAC. The Army (reluctantly) agrees to let the Navy have control of seaplanes.

In 1932, John Cockcroft and Ernest Walton "split the atom" for the first time, but a printing error in their paper means no one can repeat their results. Events delay correction.

In 1934 spurred on by fears that the Germans were developing death rays. British scientists asked by the Air Ministry to investigate concluded that a death ray was impractical. Seeing no offensive value the idea was dropped.

In early September 1943, Hitler, unimpressed by the spectacular failures of the A-4, and losing confidence in so-called "wonder weapon", gives such projects minimal priority, deciding that the concept "more is better" was better for German morale.

In 1944 Emperor Hirohito upon hearing of the pilot losses at Leyte Gulf ordered the Kamikaze Special Attack Force to be disbanded.

How would this affect the war and the design of post WWII ships?

I know this is a lot of coincidence but I wonder how these events and possibly others would affect history.
